Whenever I go biking at Northeast Metro Park, the scenery is always varied and pleasant. The number of spring wildflowers is pleasing and sometimes surprising. Fields are initially covered with Bluebonnets, the Texas official state flower. Then the landscape starts changing as spring goes on. In late April and May, we may still find some Bluebonnets, such as in the shot above, but they are not very predominant at that time. Indian paintbrushes start appearing, changing the color palette to red. Then you have a variety of daisies, winecups, and evening primroses. The winecups stand out for their bright color.

What got my attention on this particular day in early April was the variety of wildflowers in one single spot. I had to stop my bike and get low on the ground to capture the shots shown here. This field is on a circle right at the start of my biking trail. Even more striking were the single winecups.

Here are two macros I captured at another park, Copperfield Nature Trail.

That is the story behind the shots.
