This week, I decided to do a little experiment at home using my Samsung S23 and a macro adapter I had purchased around 2019. The particular adapter came with two lenses: a wide-angle and a macro lens. It is merely a clip that you place over your cell phone’s camera lens to achieve the desired results. I had forgotten how well it works. So, here are two macro photos.
Wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa) is also known as beebalm. It is a flower in the Lamiaceae (Mint Family). The mint presence is undeniably noticed once you get close to the flowers. This is a perennial flower that comes in lavender, pink, or white colors. You can actually make mint tea from its leaves. It blooms from May through September and loves sun and partial shade. It also attracts a variety of pollinators and birds. Through my macro lens adapter, I was able to capture one of the flowers after it had dried. I love the shallow depth of field that this adapter creates.

Both of these images were captured on a Samsung S23 cell phone and edited in Lightroom and Topaz Photo AI.
That is the story behind the shots. If you liked this post, you may also be interested in others featuring Cellpic Sunday, Macros, Teravista, Texas, Wild Bergamot, and Wildflowers. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

I’ve never heard of wild Bergamot.
The adapter and lens make for a great shot (ie apart from the photographer behind the camera who really makes the great shot).

I had not heard of it until earlier this year. You are so kind, Vicki. Thanks for your feedback.

Now I’m going to have to look for one of these macro lenses. The output is amazing!

They’re easy to find at Amazon and other camera stores. I thought I had bought mine at Amazon, but it’s not on my order list there. Maybe it was from another store. I’m going to try another experiment to see about changing the aperture and get a different depth of field. My lens brand is Xenvo.

Thanks, Xenia. It’s a good tool for cell phone macro photos.
