Unfurling of a Dream

Crimson Silence

I do not remember when we got this Amaryllis, but I know that every winter it blooms briefly and beautifully.

An online search led to the symbolism of this flower. Amaryllis is associated with strength, beauty, and determination. It stands tall and blooms while other flowers remain dormant. Its bright red color also connects with love and passion.

That is the story behind the shots. If you liked this post, you may also be interested in others featuring Amaryllis, FlowerHour, Texas, and Wildflowers. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

What a beautiful flower Egidio. The red against a black background is eye catching.

How beautiful, Egidio! Love the image with the black background, so dramatic! Thanks for sharing the back story of the flower’s significance! Are yours indoors or outdoors?

Terri, many thanks for this feedback. Ours is indoors. Presently, it is in the garage. We will bring it out later in the winter. They normally bloom in March/April.

Indoors here is a good idea. It’s too cold in winter to leave anything in a garage. I saved my gladiolus bulbs from last year to plant in May…they’re languishing in a box in my laundry room 😆

We cut the leaves of ours and put the pot in the garage. It comes back every year.

In the opening photograph the green and especially the red stand out well against the black background. I see that the previous commenter remarked on that too.

You might want to see my reply to her, too. I did that in post-editing.

I’d seen your reply to her when I commented. I often have to blacken parts of dark backgrounds that still show through. It has made me realize how sensitive our cameras’ sensors are.

That is true. I seldom darken backgrounds to a total black.

A lovely couple of photos of a stunning flower. The black background in the first shot really makes the red colour pop.

Thank you, Vicki. The background was very busy, but when I lowered the exposure, it went full black.
