The Final Frontier

Formula Sun

The featured image is a fully functional automobile. It competed in the Formula Sun at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, in 2015. The top was covered with solar cells to power the vehicle. The cars in the American Solar Challenge were tested on curves, braking, and, in the case of COTA, whether they could make it to the top of famous Turn 1. Some cars didn’t make it to the top of Turn One on a first try.

Bicycle Taxi

This is a common vehicle at any of the COTA races. With Austin being known as the city with the world’s largest urban bat colony of Mexican free-tailed bats, the bicycle fits very well with the city vibe. The bicycles shuttle spectators to and from the parking areas to COTA’s main gates. Each bicycle tries to outshine the others with creative designs.

Going for a monochrome treatment on these creative ideas yielded an interesting perspective, about each of them 🙂

I’d love to visit space. But I’m quite sure, not in that vehicle. It absolutely does not look reliable.

Thanks, Anne. I wish I could have gotten closer to the stagecoach. It was beyond a fence.

These are great Egidio, and I wouldn’t travel anywhere in that last one, way too small.

I don’t know why the Reader won’t show the posts. You show as subscribed. Do you have another WP account perhaps? I’ve given up trying to make sense of WP. One day all is fine, and then the next is pure garbage.

I was thinking you might use a different email for the other blog. Well, WP has a mind of its own. It’s futile for us to try to understand it.
