Southwest Williamson County Regional Park

Park pond

Southwest Williamson County Regional Park is nearly 800 acres of fun for the whole family, located in Leander, Texas. It has eleven soccer fields, two softball fields, a football field, a stadium with a 400-meter track, two softball fields, eight tennis courts, six basketball courts, one cricket field, cricket nets, a professional disc golf course, pickleball courts, and a playscape. And if those were not enough, the park also includes a network of crushed-granite and natural-surface hike-and-bike trails. Those are the ones I am more familiar with, as I go biking there often.

Although the Jim Rodgers Loop Trail is approximately 3.25 miles (5.2 km) and very wide, adventurous bikers can take other trails that shoot off the main gravel trail.

The Jim Rodgers Loop Trail

Sometimes I ride my gravel bike, such as on the second day of 2026, but when I want to explore the park more fully, I take my mountain bike. Outside the main gravel trails, the terrain can be very rocky and/or rooty. I also enjoy going out of the park across E. New Hope Drive and explore those other trails. There are often unexpected sightings of wildlife and wildflowers along these trails.

All photos were captured using my Samsung S23 cell phone and edited in Lightroom and Luminar Neo.

That is the story behind the shots. If you liked this post, you may also be interested in others featuring Biking, Cellpic Sunday, Landscapes, Parks, and Texas. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

  1. Such a lovely slice of calm inside a huge, busy park.
The trails, pond, and surprise sightings make it feel more like an escape than a sports hub. Those rides sound quietly rewarding, and the photos carry that peaceful mood well.
    Beautiful clicks, Egidio.

Margaret, I wholeheartedly agree with you. There is so much beauty around here. I guess it’s the consolation for having excruciating hot summers. 🙂
