Painted Skyscape

Fall Skyscape

In my search for fall colors this year, I drove to Pedernales Falls State Park last week. Although there was minimal fall foliage display, the scenery was still quite breathtaking at the end of the day. I walked along the Pedernales River near the falls, and later, I drove to the picnic area. That area has always been a favorite of mine because the river trickles down slowly and is very peaceful. Furthermore, the rocks and reflections often give me scenery I enjoy photographing. With the sun setting behind me, I was presented with this beautiful skyscape. The added textures from the trees, rocks, and landscape were also a special treat to my eyes.

That is the story behind the shot. If you liked this post, you may also be interested in others featuring Fall Foliage, Landscapes, Parks, Pedernales Falls SP, Pedernales River, Sunset, and Texas. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

You’ve delivered a dramatic landscape indeed, generally dark but with lighter strips spotlit on both banks of the river.

It was nearly 5 PM. The scene behind me was too dark and not interesting to photograph. However, the east sky was more appealing. Thanks for your comment.

I’ve never been to Pedernales Falls; it just got added to my ever-expanding list of “one of these days.” I like the warmth of the light, and the rocks showing because of the low water.

Linda, it’s a beautiful park. To get down to the trail area, there numerous steps. To the picnic area, there are 100 man-made steps and a steep incline. The park even alerts users to that effect. Another park to consider — and with much easier trails — is Inks Lake.

Actually, I rather enjoy taking on steeper trails, and steps aren’t an issue. As a coastal dweller, having the opportunity to do some climbing is a treat.
