Overnight Storm

Guess I’ll meditate inside

As predicted, we woke up this morning with lots of ice on the ground. There was a mix of freezing rain and ice overnight. Temperatures plunged into the teens (18ºF / -8ºC). We won’t cross the freezing mark probably until Tuesday. On the other hand, the outside view at home was a winter wonderland.

Across the street

I’m glad we have everything we need in the house, including power. Around noon, the sun came out beautifully, but it was a brief appearance — just enough time for me to walk on the deck to capture this image.

Temporary blue skies

These images were captured with my Samsung S23 this morning and slightly edited in Lightroom. That is the story behind the shots. The best thing about it was that this time we didn’t lose power.

Oh.. that looks freezing cold! But it sure is beautiful when nature and the surroundings are dressed in white.

I agree. And I’m glad it’s warmed up after three days of below-freezing temperatures.

We haven’t gotten snow yet this winter.

You’re lucky. We had a lot of ice over the weekend. Today, most of it had melted. Hopefully, tomorrow will be much warmer and will melt the rest.

Stay safe Egidio, looks like it could be dangerous.

Thank you, Rupali. Today, we are going over the freezing mark for the first time in two days. It is very sunny and warm (compared to the previous days).

Wow, that is cold and icy! It looks lovely with the blue sky but I think that like you I would be staying home 😀

Thanks, Sarah. I’m starting to get cabin fever — and it’s been only two days like this. Today, the sun is shining strongly. We are already at 30ºF (-1ºC), and things are melting fast.

Wow! Snow in Texas! I’m sure it’s more common than I think. Beautiful scenes while the snow is fresh and new! Tucson got snow in the Santa Catalina Mountains, but it only cooled down to the 50s here.

In the panhandle, it snows often in the winter. In Central Texas, though, we get more sleet, ice, and freezing rain. Today, it looks like we’ll go above the freezing mark for the first time in two days.

I’m glad the effects in your area weren’t significantly worse. I got to experience thunder sleet this morning, but the rain moved out quickly, and now we only have cold to deal with for a couple of days. That said, the plants aren’t getting uncovered until there’s more clarity about whether or not we’re going to have more cold next weekend; there are hints.

Thank you, Linda. It could have been worse. We never got above freezing. That may happen on Tuesday only.

  13. Beautiful capture, Egidio.
Glad everything stayed safe and warm inside.
That brief blue sky was well used
    Ideal weather for meditation..

Beautiful photos and view from your home Egidio. Enjoy the brief and small amount of snow. It snowed once in Sacramento, but not enough to stick to the ground!

Truly stunning captures of the ice storm that landed upon you! 😉 It’s always amazing to see this in your own backyard. Glad you are safe and the power is still on! Briefly, now you know what it might be like to live in Spokane 🙂 Sunny here temps at 19F.

Thank you, Terri. It’s wonderful to see this from inside our dining area or deck. If the sun would stay longer, it would have been nicer. It was very brief.
