Lens-Artists Challenge #354: Reflections
This week’s Lens-Artists challenge comes from Anne (of Slow Shutter Speed). In “Reflections,” she provides several examples to help us find reflections in our photography. I strongly suggest you check her post for the beautiful images she used, as well as the various types of reflections one can see in water, mirrors, metal objects, and more. For my response, I will focus on one area: water reflections.
All photos in this post were captured at Berry Springs Park & Preserve. Berry Springs is located just on the outskirts of Georgetown, Texas. In addition to an amphitheater, pavilion, and playground area, the park also offers primitive camping and trails. One of my favorite areas is the large park pond. It is a great location to see a wide variety of wildlife and enjoy unforgettable views. Here are a couple more views in this area.
“Fall Haze” was photographed with my Samsung Galaxy S23. Increasingly, I am taking advantage of its excellent camera to capture some casual photos. I shoot in RAW and edit the image with my usual software.

I suspect landscape photographers have been playing up reflections in water for as long as there have been landscape photographers. So have other sorts of artists [for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Worlds_(Escher)%5D. Though Berry springs isn’t far, you’re fortunate to have a pond adjacent to you.

It allows for a lot of creative expressions, including abstracts. I had several other photos for the challenge, but I didn’t want the post to be long. As for the pond here, I had captured a photo of a white egret with a nice reflection yesterday morning before the post went live. I thought about adding it, but again, I wanted the post to be only about Berry Springs. Thanks for the link.

great to see your great photos for this theme Egidio. i am in agreement with Tina, i loved that second image. i do not know how much editing you did on it but i loved the temperature of the photo, that delicate, pinpoint accuracy balance on the tint level to capture the reds but keep the greens and finally the dialed down exposure just made that all perfect – print worthy, if I may say! Hi, Vicki. Thank you for your note. I especially love that second shot. Every time I go to that park, I photograph it. It changes very often with the light and water in the lake. As for the compositions, I think we all learn from looking at other people’s photos. I have never sold any of my images. I never made an effort to do that. I really appreciate your compliment.
