Last week, I went out of town in search of fall foliage colors. Fall foliage comes late in Texas. One area in Central Texas is generally known for exhibiting good fall foliage. Although I did find plenty of color — in addition to great shinrin-yoku — when I returned home, I noticed the colorful foliage display around our neighborhood. Our backyard trees, for example, were glowing with color, and throughout the neighborhood, there was plenty of color, too. These are three areas I saw yesterday during a brief bike ride.
The opening image is near the neighborhood’s clubhouse. I noticed those trees last year, and again, they showed splendid hues of red and orange, with some green still around. The next shot also shows beautiful fall colors with a lovely display of reds, oranges, greens, and yellows.

This last shot is what I was hoping to find in one section of the bike trail. Luck was with me when the sunlight cast fantastic shadows on the trail. I had to stop to capture the magic before my eyes.

That is the story behind the shots. If you liked this post, you may also be interested in others featuring Fall Foliage, Landscapes, Reflections, Sunday Stills, Teravista, and Texas. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

We used to hike at Lost Maples in the autumn to see brightly colored leaves. Looks like you have some beauties in your neighborhood.
Egidio Leitao
I continue to be disappointed with Lost Maples in the last few years. The colors there were sparse this year. There was more color concentration at Garner State Park. Austin is really pretty this year. Thanks for writing.
Rebecca Cuningham
I admire your photography, Egídio. Sorry to hear about Lost Maples. Funny you should mention Garner. That’s where we were married. : )
Egidio Leitao
Thanks for the support, Rebecca. What a coincidence! I love Garner SP. Some friends and I used to go there every December for a few days. I went back this month to relive those times and restart that “tradition.” It’s a beautiful park.

There’s nothing like the Río Frío ; )

Just wonderful, Egidio. There’s so much colour in that Secluded shot xx
Egidio Leitao
Thanks, Jo. I see that every time I leave the house. It’s down the street, near the golf course. It’s so vibrant. Thanks for the feedback.
Hammad Rais
Such wonderful shades of the fall 🙂
Egidio Leitao
Thanks, Hammad. I agree with you. It’s a beautiful time right now.

Wow! These are beautiful!

Thanks, Beth. I am very glad we have these colors around here. Now, if only it’d be a tad warmer, I’d go out looking for more. Today, we woke up with temps outside at the freezing mark.

It’s a real pleasure to see these gorgeous colours, especially as our trees are mostly all bare now.
Egidio Leitao
This is probably our peak time for fall colors.

I couldn’t help noticing over the past few days that Austin’s foliage suddenly entered its peak period for color, as your pictures show.
Egidio Leitao
I was surprised, too. If only it would warm up a bit. The photos I posted here were captured during a very quick and short bike ride around here. I want to go to some parks I have in mind, but it’s just too cold to be out there. Thanks for the note.
Vicki
Absolutely stunning – probably some of the best Fall (Autumn to us Aussies) colour I’ve seen.
Thanks for sharing, Egidio.
Egidio Leitao
Thanks for this feedback, Vicki. I’m happy you liked them. I’m thrilled there is enough color around us this year.

Here we are just reaching peak colors. Thanks for writing.

Sacramento reached its peak by Thanksgiving. Much earlier here in Washington. I never get tired of seeing autumn!

Cypress trees are one of the few natives that provide color in my area. Our trees finally turned in the past week, but their full glory lasted only a day or two; today’s winds have stripped them nearly bare.
Egidio Leitao
Linda, I know what you mean. I’m glad I caught those images yesterday. After today’s winds, I’ll be curious to see what’s left.
