Heritage Park

Round Rock

The Heritage Park in downtown Round Rock is the city’s celebration of its history. The park is located in the Old Town section of Round Rock. The original “round rock” in Brushy Creek can be found here. This is near a low-water crossing for wagons, horses, and cattle, especially during the cattle drives along the Chisholm Trail.

Brushy Creek

Around this section, visitors can picnic, stroll on the banks of Brushy Creek, and even do fly fishing in the creek.

This wooden bridge spans the wagon trail and also offers views of the rock that gave the city its name. Visitors can also enjoy more views of Brushy Creek, as in the photos below.

Wooden Bridge

When I saw Leanne’s Monochrome Madness #38 this week, I knew I wanted to feature this park. Sarah (of Travel with Me) set the theme to “Starting with an H.” My choice was clear: a happy hike at Heritage Park.

That is the story behind the shots. If you liked this post, you may also be interested in others featuring Brushy Creek, Heritage Park, Landscapes, Monochrome, Monochrome Madness, Parks, Round Rock, and Texas. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

As you found, Brushy Creek is a good place for pictures, not only near the original round rock but along other stretches as well. Most people may know only one or perhaps a few parts of the creek, which at 69 miles turns out to be surprisingly long. Here’s a brief article about it:
