Lens-Artists Challenge #369: Dreamy

How timely this challenge is! I just returned from a week-long photography workshop in Missouri. It was very intensive with daily assignments, workshops, critiques, and field trips. I loved the experience and the people I met. One of the things we learned was how to create dreamscapes.

If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, a dreamscape is a visual depiction of an imaginary, surreal, or dreamlike scene, characterized by otherworldly elements, abstract compositions, and emotional depth that blends reality with fantasy.
Ann-Christine defined it clearly in her post Dreamy. She wrote: “Soft, dreamy photography is one that utilizes soft light, soft focus, delicate tones, and other gentle elements to create ethereal pictures. It often gives a blurred, or hazy feel to the images – an almost surreal or unearthly effect.” You should look at her examples here.

One of my assignments that week was to create dreamscapes. So, these are a handful of images I captured and edited to create a dreamscape effect.

Although fall is far from arriving in Central Texas, John’s challenge last week brought us plenty of fall foliage and other signs of the season. Your images were great. Now, let’s continue with more stunning photos as you respond to Ann-Christine’s Dreamy challenge. When you add your post, please don’t forget to use the “lens-artists” hashtag so we can easily find your post in the Reader.
Next week, Sofia returns with a new challenge. It will go live at noon EST in the USA. Tune in to find out more about the challenge then. Please see this page to learn more about the Lens-Artists Challenge and its history.
That is the story behind the shots. If you liked this post, you may also be interested in others featuring Great Blue Heron, Landscapes, Lens-Artists, Monarch butterflies, Waterfalls, and Wildlife. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.
