A Small Town Christmas

Lens-Artists Challenge #377: Holiday Fun

Main Square

After unplugging for five days in the Hill Country, where I experienced a little of the fall foliage in Texas, I am back to find Ann-Christine’s tremendous challenge for this week: Holiday Fun. Please take a look at her post to see the beautiful images she shared.

I decided to focus my response on our small town of Round Rock (just about 8 miles north of the Austin city limits). I love the quiet atmosphere we have here. In the city’s main square, there is a festival of lights and decorations. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Whatever your faith or tradition for celebrating this time of year, I hope you will be surrounded by joy, warmth, and understanding.

I’m still flying high from seeing the beautiful responses to Beth’s Wings challenge. Great work! I already saw many responses to Ann-Christine’s Holiday Fun. Please keep ’em coming! They certainly lifted my spirits and brought plenty of holiday cheer. Don’t forget to use the “lens-artists” hashtag so everyone can find your post more easily.

Next week, as it has been our tradition, the Lens-Artists team will feature our “Last Chance” challenge. In that challenge, we invite you to share images you captured in 2025 that were not featured in our previous challenges during the year. It will go live at noon EST in the USA. Tune in to find out more about the challenge then. Please see this page for more information about the Lens-Artists Challenge and its history.

That is the story behind the shots. If you liked this post, you may also be interested in others featuring Christmas, Christmas lights, Cityscapes, Lens-Artists, Round Rock, and Texas.  Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

Round Rock puts on quite a light show! I love this statement of your, as it reflects my feelings as well; “Whatever your faith or tradition for celebrating this time of year, I hope you will be surrounded by joy, warmth, and understanding.” It’s folks like us that spread love, joy and understanding.

Thanks, Beth. I’ll check out the lights again this year. There’s also a new set of decoration at a local park.

Great selections. The water tower and library are among my many faves. Round Rock, that’s DELL country isn’t it?

Round Rock’s hardly what I think of as a small town, but the lights are beautiful.

Thank you, Linda. I think it’s my mind thinking of Austin and RR’s 100,000 population.

I’ve lived or worked in so many towns that were less than 10K–sometimes far less!–that my mental image of a small town tends to be old-fashioned. I once worked in a town where the church, the gas station, and the post office were on the same telephone party line!

  15. Egidio, such a lovely glimpse into Round Rock’s seasonal charm.
Five days of quiet Hill Country air clearly set the perfect tone.
The lights, the calm corners, the warm spirit — everything shines through beautifully.
Wishing wonderful days ahead filled with kindness and a dash of holiday sparkle.
    Love the very first image.

You know exactly the right words to express the feelings I had by unplugging for a few days. Also, thank you for this heart-warming feedback. Much gratitude, as always.
