Lately, while meditating on the patio, I have noticed a persistent Red Admiral butterfly fluttering near where I sit. I say persistence because it has been occurring for at least two weeks. I have even seen it around the patio at other times, too. I have photographed it at various times, but my favorite images are the ones I share here.
The featured image is my favorite in this gallery. I was able to capture that top perspective easily. It was one angle I had not photographed previously, especially with the wings partially open. I liked the detail I captured in the center and its head.
Was it trying to hide from me? I don’t think so, but it made me smile. I also liked the image because of the enhanced sunlight on the Red Admiral’s wing colors.
I did a Gemini AI online search to discover the symbolism associated with Red Admirals. I loved what I read. In brief, the search results talked about spiritual awakening, transformation, and renewal.
Of course, the butterfly’s vibrant colors were linked to the beauty and wonders of nature. It is important to note that resiliency and adaptability symbolically connect to Red Admirals. Their migration pattern often covers long distances and diverse terrains.
Perhaps the most intriguing thing associated with sighting a Red Admiral is the belief that it can be a sign from a loved one who has passed away, offering comfort and reassurance. That was very comforting to know.

I love everything about this, Egidio! Your photography is stunning (as usual), but to capture this Red Admiral as he chose to visit you for a few days, is amazing! I love the symbolism of resiliency and renewal. Thank you for joining Sunday Stills this week, I’m honored 🙂

Lovely Edigio, must have felt comfortable on your patio

Thanks, Ali. Until yesterday, it was comfortable and in the low 80s. Now, it’s very chilly. I’ll probably have to stay indoors.

What a beautiful photograph of your visitor. How lucky this butterfly chose your patio several weeks in a row. Symbolism? Yes, but what? Trust? A departed loved one trying to contact you? Or, nature’s bountiful beauty frequenting your home? I think the best thing is to enjoy the visit, and I think you have.
