While revisiting some photos I captured in our old home’s backyard, I came across this Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) enjoying the nectar of a Turk’s Cap (Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii). The shallow depth of field I got was obtained by zooming my lens to its maximum length. It was perfect to highlight the vibrant orange and black colors of that butterfly while also providing good contrast against the green in the surrounding area. These pollinators are excellent contributors to the health of a garden’s ecosystem.
That is the story behind the shot. If you liked this photo, you might also be interested in other posts featuring Austin, Butterfly, Gulf Fritillary, Texas, Turk’s cap, Wildflowers, and Wildlife. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.
