Willow City Loop

Willow City Loop is one of the several places in Central Texas where people flock year after year to see the beautiful display of wildflowers. The wildflowers are overwhelmingly beautiful when we have just the right amount of rain in the fall. This loop is a very narrow road through private land. Care must be exercised not to trespass over private property.

Willow City Loop is a scenic 13-mile (21-km) drive known for its stunning wildflowers in spring. Particularly eye-catching are the Bluebonnets, which paint the landscape with a vibrant blue. In addition to the Yucca you see in the photo above, a few Indian Paintbrush flowers are hiding among the vibrant blues.

The loop traverses beautiful Texas Hill Country terrain, including rolling hills, deep canyons, and meadows. The photos featured here were captured in the spring of 2010.

Until next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

For Cee, with gratitude for brightening our days with the FOTD (Flower of the Day) challenge.

How fabulous this must be to experience in real life! Thanks for these. By the way, I doubt that you can do anything about this, but your posts never appear in my Reader – they never have. It doesn’t really matter, since I get email notifications, but it’s odd, isn’t it?

Margaret, it is really a beautiful drive to experience these wildflowers. The only problem is that the roads are very narrow and have no shoulder. So, parking is difficult at times. For the most part, this section is on private land, and parking is not allowed. About the Reader, that is very odd, especially since you get email notification. I’m not sure I know how the Reader works. Other than looking for a tag, I don’t know how someone would go about finding a blog. All the blogs I subscribe to show up in the Recent section of the Reader. That’s my preferred way of reading those blogs. I just scroll and see one post after another. Thanks for the feedback.

Beautiful Texas Bluebonnets! We spent some time in search of bluebonnets while in the Texas Hill Country in the spring of 2015. A ranger at Longhorn Caverns told us about the Willow City Loop. It was my favorite drive of the entire trip. The bluebonnets were blooming everywhere! Thanks for bringing back those memories with your beautiful images.

Beth, you then know what it’s like to pursue these beauties. The drive gets very busy each spring. Thank you for writing. I’m glad the images brought back good memories.
