— Morning or afternoon hours, the views from the Lost Mine Trail are always breathtaking all the way along the trail. You can see the Window, Casa Grande as well as Juniper Canyon and the South Rim, as in this photo. This shot was taken in our last visit to Big Bend National Park. It was a particularly cool morning with cool breezes always surrounding us at every corner. It is on this trail that a hiker can clearly see the effects of the rain on the mountains and canyon vegetation. Just as you stop wowing at the views of the Window and Casa Grande, you begin enjoying views of Juniper Canyon, the South Rim and Mexico in the far horizon. As in the song “South of the Border (Down Mexico Way),” by Jimmy Kennedy and Michael Karr, it is plain and simple to see how easy it is to fall “in love where stars above, came out to play.”
