Skyline Drive

Golden Slumbers

No matter how often I have posted landscape views at this location, I usually find a different view in my photo catalog. To date, I believe I have posted a half-dozen views captured here.

This is Skyline Drive at the Davis Mountains State Park. This auto-drive is one of the best and easiest in the state. The 4.7-mile (7.5-km) trip takes you up on Skyline Drive to enjoy the beauty of West Texas and its mountains. Hikers can also reach the summit of Skyline Drive if they use the CCC trail. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built the Skyline Drive in the 1930s.

That is the story behind the shot. If you liked this photo, you might also be interested in other posts featuring Davis Mountains, Davis Mountains SP, Landscapes, Parks, Skyline Drive, Sunset, Texas, and WeekendSky. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

Brad, it’s one of the best parks in the state with so much to see and do there and in the surrounding area. The best part is that the park is located between 5,000-6,000 ft of elevation. The weather is generally good almost all year round.

Thanks, Sarah. It’s one of my favorite parks in Texas precisely because of those views.

    Such a scenic view, Egidio!
I like the uniqueness of sky’s shade blending in with the landscape below. A treat of tired mind for sure.
Thank you so much for sharing this with my challenge 🙂
