Pecos Bridge

Pecos Bridge

As many times as we have been to Big Bend National Park, crossing the Pecos River bridge outside of Del Rio always leads us to a stop to marvel at this iconic Texas river. This route via Highway 90 is more scenic than the faster I-10 route. In my other posting here about this river and bridge, there are other facts about the river. The deck truss bridge was built in 1957 and has an average traffic count of approximately 1,560 vehicles. The largest bridge span is 1,040.0 ft (317 m) in length, and the bridge total length is 1,310.1 ft (399.5 m) with a deck width of 27.9 ft (8.5 m). This scenic overlook I used to make this three-bracketed shot is off Highway 90 and provides a magnificent view of the river, bridge, and Texas skies. This trip was my way to introduce this fantastic location to my spouse and two friends who were traveling with us to Big Bend.
