Palo Duro Canyon SP

Canyon Sunrise

For this #ThrowbackThursday, I decided to return to 2001. It was my first visit to the fantastic landscape of the USA’s second-largest canyon: Palo Duro Canyon State Park in the Texas Panhandle. I specifically chose an off-season month to stay in one of the three cabins by the canyon’s rim. Waking up to this sunrise was unforgettable. Watching sunsets and sunrises right from your cabin’s deck is perfect. The three cabins have beds, a bathroom, and a small kitchen. Outside, you have a large deck with a barbecue grill and views like the one you see here.

If you see artifacts in the image above, please remember that this was captured with a 1.2-megapixel camera in 2001. I used everything I could to reflect the impression I got from that sunrise.

That is the story behind the shot. If you liked this photo, you might also be interested in other posts featuring Landscapes, Palo Duro Canyon SP, Parks, Sunrise, and Texas. Until the next time, keep clicking and capturing the beauty your eyes find.

Thanks so much, Anne. I had to work a bit to eliminate some streaks on the sky. They were caused by the image’s upscaling.

Terri, I have done that twice. Since there are only three cabins at the canyon rim, one just needs to plan ahead. Thanks for the compliment.
