National Forest Week 2020

Olympic National Park

National Forest Week 2020 is from July 13-19. To celebrate the week, I thought about all the beautiful forests that we have seen and hiked in our trips to national parks. It was hard to pick one photo. However, one park kept coming back to mind. So, I went back to our trip to the national parks of the state of Washington. Although those three parks are magnificent — Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic — I chose Olympic NP to celebrate National Forest Week 2020. The park has four regions and three very distinct ecosystems, namely subalpine forest and wildflower meadow, temperate forest, and the rugged Pacific coast. The temperate forest is impressive. Just take, for example, Hurricane Ridge and the Hoh Rain Forest. With that diversity, it is no surprise that the park receives over three million visitors a year. Olympic NP covers an area of 922,650 acres (3,733.8 km2). Happy National Forest Week 2020!
