— It does not matter how often I visit Big Bend Ranch SP. It always offers breathtaking views. It is a very long drive, and that last stretch of dirt road (27 miles / 43.5 km) makes it even longer. Sometimes I break the trip and spend a night halfway there so that I can enter the park still with daylight. The dirt road is well maintained, but it is one that I do not want to do in the dark. Besides, why would I miss the views along the way? I have yet to camp at Big Bend Ranch SP. In all my visits there, I have always stayed at the Bunkhouse, just opposite the Sauceda Ranger Station. It is a nice arrangement and now, since it no longer offers the option of providing meals, users have full access to the kitchen facilities in the Bunkhouse. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than to sit on the porch and wait for the sunset. Generally, it never disappoints. The photo above was taken in the spring of 2019. We did not have as dramatic sunset as in previous years, but it was still breathtaking.
