On the Trail with Wind Sprinters

During our visit to Yellowstone National Park, we had several unforgettable moments: the first bison jam, the black bear trying to cross the road, Old Faithful, the Grand Prismatic Spring, the Lower and Upper Falls, and so on. However, when we faced the most unexpected encounter, we realized what a special moment that was.

We were returning from the Northeast Entrance of the park when we stopped for a hike in Lamar Valley. Lamar Valley was blooming all around us. At some point along the trail, a family of pronghorn deer began hiking with us. They kept a safe distance under Mom’s watchful eyes but continued giving us some views we’ll never forget.

These encounters with wildlife are precious memories. It is nirvana when we realize that they know we mean no harm to them. They allow us to occupy their space for a short while.

Beautiful photos Egidio! It is wonderful when, in a protected space, wildlife know humans mean no harm. It would be nice if we meant no harm to each other.
