— Nine years ago we went back to Canyon de Chelly NM to explore more of that national monument. From there we drove to Farmington, New Mexico, to continue visiting other parks and national monuments. Before leaving Canyon de Chelly, we talked with locals about which route we should take. It was recommended we use Indian Routes 12 and 13 to Farmington. What a spectacular drive that was. Just as we left Chinle, we began seeing these beautiful rock formations along our drive. As we climbed higher and higher, summer temperatures were history. We even got some flurries in the highest elevations. Then we began seeing Shiprock in the horizon. It was one of the most memorable drives we have done, especially since we did not know about Shiprock until that day!
