— The Galleria Umberto I, in Naples, Italy, was constructed between 1887 and 1891, and today it houses businesses, shops and cafes. Arguably the largest glass-roofed arcade, the Galleria also displays a beautiful mosaic on its floor representing the signs of the zodiac. The Galleria was named after King Umberto I, who was the king of Italy at the time of its construction. Designed by Emanuele Rocco, the Galleria glass dome is braced by 16 metal ribs and in its highest point, it is 184 ft (56 m) tall. At the end of the long hall in the photo above, one will see the Real Teatro di San Carlo. Nearby you can also visit the Piazza del Plebiscito.
