Boats are commonplace when it comes to traveling the Amazon River. In Manaus, the capital city of the state of Amazonas, travelers must arrive early to their boats if they want to catch a privileged location to set up their hammocks. Depending on the trip length, these boats can take days to reach a riverside village in the middle of the Amazon. Therefore, a good spot for one’s hammock is essential. Think of it as a room with a balcony in a cruise line ship. Just about in every boat we passed in the port of Manaus we saw these colorful hammocks.
