— Rocky Mountain NP is never short of beautiful lakes and mountains views. Some of these lake trails are super easy and even handicapped accessible. Sprague Lake is a very popular spot in the park and has plenty of places for a leisure picnic with views such as the shot above. The easy walk around the lake is only 0.9 miles (1.44 km), and this lake is at an elevation of 8,700 ft (2,651.75 m). Of course popularity comes with a price. Just like Bear Lake and others, depending on when you go, you may not find parking. So, consider using one of the park’s shuttles. The lake takes its name from one of Estes Park’s settlers, Abner Sprague. There’s a variety of wildlife that can be spotted at this lake, including geese and moose. We ended up stopping here a couple of times, and both times we had stormy skies. Once we had to rush back to the car because of rain.
