Baía do Sueste

Baía do Sueste

— Probably one of the best snorkeling spots on the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, the Baía do Sueste (Southeast Bay) beach is located in the national park that covers most of the island. One of the most fascinating things is that you can swim with turtles (there are even some endangered species of turtles here) and sharks. Just where I was standing when I made the shot above, I saw baby sharks swimming nearby. According to the local guides, the sharks are not a danger to humans, and he said there was never a shark attack there. They are not afraid of humans either. The turquoise waters here are warm and inviting. If you forget your snorkeling equipment, you can rent it right there, where you also pay the admission fee (remember, this is a national park area). Because it is a fragile environment, snorkeling is only allowed in one section of the beach.
