Skyspace

Skyspcace

— The James Turrell Skyspace, located on the Rice University campus in Houston, Texas, is a must-see art exhibit. It was built in 2012 and, according to its website, it is a structure “equipped with an LED light sequence that projects onto the ceiling and through an aperture in the 72-foot square knife-edge roof just before sunrise and at sunset.” The building is striking from the outside, as shown in the photo here, and even more impressive inside. The lighting changes during sunrise and sunset can only be experienced and not described. The space can be used for acoustic and electronic concerts as well as for reflective moments. James Turrell was born in Los Angeles (California) in 1943, and Skyspace is his 73rd creation and his first engineered for acoustics.
