Whereas time is measured in seconds, water measures time in flow. With this triptych, I bring you three instances of water flow: momentum, impact, and resolution.
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
Lao Tzu

“The natural function of the wing is to soar upwards and carry that which is heavy up to the place where dwells the race of gods. More than any other thing that pertains to the body it partakes of the nature of the divine.”
Plato
I photographed the original Brushy Creek images at the Heritage Trail Memorial Park in Round Rock, Texas. I wanted to isolate the creek from distractions to create this abstract. The Great Egret was photographed here at home. The final triptychs’ layouts were created using PhotoScape X.
That is the story behind the triptych. It’s not obvious what the trapezoid in the central part of your opening image is, and so the view comes across as mysterious.
What a coincidence that you should feature the Heritage Trail Memorial Park. A couple of weeks ago I was looking at an online map of the Austin area to find someplace that I’d never visited. The Heritage Trail Memorial Park turned up, and we went there.
Egidio Leitao
About your first paragraph, that was my intention. It’s an abstract using a photo I captured at Brushy Creek. I changed its orientation to contrast with the other views. Regarding the Heritage Trail, I enjoy biking through that area and also photographing there.

Splendid, Egidio! The shots of the white bird flying over the water with the dark reflections, wonderful in itself! But the triptych treatment really showed the graceful movement.
Egidio Leitao
Elke, I’m happy you liked them, especially the White Egret.

I wasn’t sure if I was seeing an egret. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
