— Every year we try to make a trip to the coast to get our fill of relaxation by the ocean. We try to avoid the summer crowds by going in early October. The beaches and restaurants are definitely less crowded. Sometimes it feels like we have the entire place to ourselves. For example, when I got this shot of an American Oystercatcher, the beach was entirely deserted. On this particular trip last year, I had planned on going to check out the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center at the end of the day in order to get more wildlife and sunset colors. The center is ADA compliant and has a boardwalk that meanders through the pond allowing visitors to see cattails and a variety of birds and fish, alligators and more. If you climb the observation tower on the boardwalk, you will get a panoramic view of the pond and the surrounding areas. It was from that tower that I made this three-exposure photo.
