A Moment of Stillness

The Drop

You are not a drop in the ocean;
you are the entire ocean in a drop.
Rumi

I created something new for this month’s ICM photo challenge (ICMPC #7): my first ICM panorama. The process was straightforward. I first made three ICM images. Then, I merged them to form the panorama you see above. Mother Nature added the drop where you see it. This time, I wanted to give a general idea of the scene while still using ICM. I think it should be clear there is a pond and vegetation around its edge.

Happy World Photography Day!

    Absolutely stunning! I feel as if I could melt away and dream all day there. Great Pano for the challenge, I haven’t done one yet and now you have inspired me to at least try it! Beautiful!

      Kathleen, I’m so thankful for this feedback. I’m glad you liked my experimentation. The panorama was an afterthought. When I was going through the various images I made this morning here at home, I saw the potential for a panorama. It worked to my satisfaction. Thank you.

    I can only see a very blurred image of a pond bank and in the foreground, some water. I mean, so blurred as though you haven’t focused at all.

    I often have trouble viewing some blogger’s images, so I’ll wait until the end of the day to review this panorama and see if it has rectified itself. Sometimes, it’s the next day (i.e. 24 hours) before I can see an image. I’d love to see the real scene in sharp focus.

    Probably my computer as Kathleen could see it just fine.

      Vicki, what you see is exactly correct. It’s a photo technique named ICM (intentional camera movement). That is why it appears blurred on your screen. It was intentional. I moved the camera to create that effect. There is no sharp focus in ICM.

    Wonderful combination, of the special photo with the quote, and the idea of a photo and photography, which is mostly about… just a fraction of a moment that can sometimes tell a whole story in its perfect capture. Just like your post 🙂
