When Life Gives You Jams…

Surfing

When life gives you jams, you go surfing. Of course, I am talking about traffic jams here. July was a hectic month for us. We were moving. I hardly had any time for photography. However, after seeing Kathleen’s sixth ICMPC, the idea of using water stayed in my head. On the other hand, since I had previously used water for ICM photos, I pushed myself to attempt something that resembled water but using a different topic.

When traffic stopped in front of me during the rush hour, I immediately grabbed my camera on the passenger seat and began my experimentation. Instead of doing horizontal or vertical movements, I used diagonal and semi-circular motions. Looking at the viewfinder, I noticed the potential of what I could create. The teal color created the illusion of waves in a sea of red and orange taillights. So, this is my ICMPC image for July. Here’s a similar shot captured at the same stop. I prefer the first image because of the additional colors present. Do you have a preference?

I think our minds were on the same thing. Brake lights are the best for shots like this and your creative touch on the diagonal makes it complete. Mine didn’t turn out so good and was going to post it Thursday. Like you I may have to think about that. I really like the contemporary feel of the photos you posted! I am glad you joined in!

Thank you so much, Kathleen, for your positive feedback. With our move complete, I don’t think it’ll take me long to add future ICMPC pics.

Quite unusual photos here at your site, but no less interesting. Yes, I also prefer the upper one, for the sake of the colors. Now I’ll click on the ICMPC-link to learn more ))

Thanks again, Sylvia. It’s always so unpredictable when it comes to ICM. That is one aspect of how much fun it can be.
